The department is led by specialist consultant physicians who have completed a minimum of seven years training.
Urgent care is accessed after review in the Emergency Department. For less urgent care, specialist is required to access this service. Referrals from your regular GP can be made to Specialist Outpatient Clinics (see below).
The Specialist Outpatient Clinic can also be accessed by Telehealth.

Referrals to Specialist Outpatient Clinics can be made by completing a SWH Specialist Outpatient Clinic referral form. Referral guidelines for the Specialist Outpatient Clinics are available. These referrals are then triaged and appointments are made according to clinical urgency.
After your appointment, the physician will write to your general practitioner and other relevant health care providers to update them of what has occurred at the consultation.
As a public clinic, the patient does not get to choose which specialist they will see for their appointment.
No, there is no cost to attend this clinic if the referral guidelines have been met.
