Stomal Therapy

The stomal therapy service provides pre and post-operative education, counselling, and support to patients, their family members or carers, who are to undergo surgery that will include the formation of a stoma.

A stoma is a surgically created opening on the abdomen that enables the elimination of waste products.

The service also provides education and support to clients, family or carers who have a PEG (percutaneous gastrostomy) tube, that allows a prescribed fluid to be delivered directly into the stomach.
